Rechmaya Distillery, Lebanon, Gin, Craft Spririts

Origin

It started generations ago, in Rechmaya, where a love of Nature first took root.

In more recent times, it started like great stories often do: with an idea.
What if that love of Nature could be contained within a sip?
What if the place that produced such serene summer afternoons, could also
produce the only thing that could make them even better?
And what if a casual pub grew around it?

Chady and Maya asked all these questions and found an answer:
Rechmaya Distillery. A place for food, people, creativity, and cheerful conversation.

Oh, and gin. Gin was important too.

Founders

Founders Chady & Maya worked both in the creative world of the Dubai ad industry.

But it’s also a very corporate world, and soon enough that love of nature and freedom filtered back in, turning their hearts towards home again, this time to open their own
craft distillery in their native loved village: Rechmaya.

Passionate about flavors and experimenting with different ingredients, Chady with a cooking certificate, took advanced courses in distilling to be able to craft the best balanced Gin recipe. Maya, his wife, after years in communication, focused on giving the brand a cool and cheerful image.

Completing each other, both being happy persons that love socialising and hosting, they were longing while being abroad to their grown garden, the amazing mountains view while relaxing under the apricot tree, enjoying a drink or a barbecue with friends.

So they took a decision and that was it! Let’s be happy and fulfill our passion!

Location

Rechmaya is a beautiful village in the Aley District of Lebanon, about 33 kilometers from the capital, Beirut, and anywhere from 300 to 1000 meters above sea level. The town is tucked within green mountains.

Ra’s el miyah, (the original meaning of Rechmaya in Syrianic language), this village is known for its pure water, drawn from its river, al Tannour. It’s a remote and invigorating place, where you can bathe and tan in the middle of Nature.

A must-see spot is Deir Seer, an old monastary where “Amir bashir chehab” planted the famous “jawzeit el mir”, with breathtaking views of the entire region and endless sites for hiking and camping under the stars. Not to forget the drive to the first electricity centrale at the bottom of the valley, and other incredible sights and experiences.

Wherever you go, you’ll always feel welcome in Rechmaya, where everyone is kind and helpful. But as the home of The Cheerful Spirit, kindness is only natural.
